Implementation of Imported Vehicle Registration

Starting 2001, JPJ has implemented e-Daftar (an online system) for the registration of vehicles. The first phase of the system involved vehicles manufactured or assembled locally. With this system, the vehicle registration data is sent electronically by the manufacturer or assembler.

As of 1 June 2010, the e-Daftar system also covers registration for imported cars with the registration data to be submitted to JPJ by the companies importing the vehicles. This also applies to imported vehicles that are brought into the country using individual APs.

For individual AP holders, submission of vehicle registration data into e-Daftar can be done through either one of the three (3) available Gateway Providers (GP):

The documents that are required to be submitted to the GP for the e-Daftar process are as the followings:

  1. Owner's identification document
  2. Copy of Import License (AP)
  3. Copy of Customs FormK1, and
  4. Copy of PUSPAKOM's Vehicle Inspection Report.


A service charge of RM50 is applicable for every submission of data to the JPJ database. However, any charges for any additional services are at the discretion and agreement between the GP and the AP holder.
