The Malaysian Road Transport Department (JPJ) is authorized for a Motor Vehicle Type Approval in Malaysia.

JPJ has been appointed by the Malaysian Standards Department as the “National Organization” to provide and provide WMI codes for local manufacturers in Malaysia with effect from 1 April 2020.

This appointment is based on MS ISO 3780 ‘Road Vehicle’ – WMI Code, clause 3.2 which states “National Organization” is the organization appointed by each ISO National Member body (Malaysian Standards Department), and acts on behalf of the international agency responsible for maintenance and delivery WMI code. With this matter, the Malaysian Road Transport Department has been appointed based on this matter.

For locally assembled vehicles, this WMI Code must be applied to this Department. Please refer to the guidelines in the attachment for more information and the application form.
