Road Transport Department has always given priority in shaping the environment safe road to highway users. Accordingly, the Department has been carrying out operations on commercial and public service vehicles under Rule 4A Traffic Rules 1959 which is driving continuously in the right lane.
The operation, which began on 4th of August, 2016 from 7.00 am to 12.00 pm on all major highways of the Nation. RTD Enforcement Division has been using three (3) types of methods for the implementation which were patrolling using RTD vehicles, patrol vehicles without the RTD logo and masquerading as bus passengers.
