VTA Application Procedure - Technical - JPJ Portal

Vehicle Type Approval (VTA) is a procedure conducted on all vehicle models before the registration process is done. This is done to guard the identity, dimension, weight, build characteristics and the specifications of the vehicle to ensure that it is compliant with the stipulations set under 1987 Road Transport Act and the Road Transport Rules. To ensure the procedure is conducted smoothly and transparently, a committee known as the National Committee for Type Approval and Homologation was formed to assess each VTA application to make sure that the vehicle adheres to all the requirements. The committee is chaired by the JPJ Director-General and comprises of various government and private agencies such as SIRIM, MIROS, MITI, MOT, Malaysian Customs, PUSPAKOM, JAS, KPDNKK, MOSTI, Standards Malaysia and also the Malaysian Automotive Institute (MAI).
